File a patent or utility model in Korea online

For applications claiming Paris Convention priority, or filed without priority. Send your instructions in five minutes. You get an instant fee quote, an invoice by email and a private link to track the filing — handled by Korean patent attorneys, not a portal.

  1. 1Upload the specification — we count the words and claims for you
  2. 2We confirm the order — then pay the invoice by bank transfer
  3. 3We file at KIPO and send you the Korean application number
1 Documents

Start here: upload the specification to be filed — description, claims, abstract and drawings, ideally as a Word file (PDF also works). We read it in your browser and count the claims and words for the quote. No file to hand? Skip this step and fill in the form below.

Add the priority application if it differs from the text to be filed. Up to 5 files, 17 MB in total; larger files can be emailed after ordering.
    2 Application
Official fees differ: a utility model has lower filing and examination fees.

Is the applicant an individual who is also the inventor? * Individual applicants who are also the inventors get 70% off the KIPO application and examination fees, whatever their nationality.
Does the applicant already have a KIPO applicant code? * The applicant code (특허고객번호) is KIPO's ID for each applicant. If there is none, we register it before filing at no extra charge.

    Good to know

    When is the deadline?
To claim priority, 12 months from the earliest priority date. Without priority there is no fixed deadline, but file before the invention is disclosed — the grace period for prior disclosure is limited.
Do you need a signed power of attorney before filing?
No. We file on your instructions and send you a power of attorney form to sign afterwards.
    Can I file in English?
Yes. A foreign-language application secures the filing date; the Korean translation follows within 1 year 2 months from the priority date (or the filing date).
    Who handles my case?
Registered Korean patent attorneys at LNB IP LAW FIRM, Seoul. Questions: lnbip@lnbip.com.
